Cheshire manor supplies recommendations

Due to a popular demand, the items listed below are what we use ourselves or have tried in the past and liked them.

For a smooth transition, we suggest that you buy the same litterbox and litter and use the same food, at least in the beginning. You can gradually switch to different brands later should you decide to do so. Unless you intend to combine kitten care with weight-bearing exercise, we recommend getting smaller packages of dry food and litter. Dry food stays fresher in smaller bags.

* Our Super Extreme Transparency Disclosure: Some of the Amazon links may earn us a small commission from Amazon. It doesn’t affect our recommendations as we buy the same items as we recommend and buy the majority of our pet and household items at Amazon anyway. We have Amazon Prime, which makes it very convenient. Items like kitten food and litter we have on a recurring subscription to get a discount. *

Litterbox & Litter

The rule of thumb for the number of litterboxes needed is the number of cats + 1. So, if you have one cat or a kitten, you’d need the minimum of two litterboxes. Most cats won’t use a litterbox if it’s dirty so having more litterboxes, for instance on each level of the house, is not a bad idea because it reduces the likelihood of accidents. If increasing the number of boxes and/or trying to clean them right away after each use doesn’t help, the kitten needs to be evaluated by a veterinarian to

Litterbox

We use Tidy Cats Breeze systembecause it greatly reduces the workload by eliminating the need to scoop the pee. You only scoop the poop.

Litter

Instead of Tidy Cats pellets, we use Feline Pine litter made out of, well, pine chips. It’s more environmentally friendly and economical!

Litterbox Pads

For the pads, we use generic Amazon disposable pads, unscented version.

Our kittens learn to use this particular system from the very start, so we’d recommend buying the same one and using it at least in the beginning. You can always switch to a different litterbox and litter later, but it’s best to do it slowly. We’d love to take credit for litter training all our kittens, but it’s actually their moms that teach them! This is another reason why it’s very important that kittens stay with their moms from birth to adoption.
